Topper Topaz Omega sailing dinghtTopper Topaz Omega sailing dinghtWoking Sea Cadets have received a generous grant totaling almost £5500. The grant from the Local Committee of Surrey County Council will enabled the Sea Cadets to purchase a Topper Topaz Omega.

Lt (SCC) John Bray RNR, the Commanding Officer of Woking Unit, said: “The purchase of this sailing dinghy is vital to the training we offer our cadets as this piece of equipment is to replace our current wayfarer dinghy. This is a fairly large dinghy capable of taking 4 to 5 cadets and an instructor in one go, which is vital when we start to teach young people how to sail.”

“Having an instructor in the boat with them for the first couple of lessons builds confidence and before you know it they are off on their own in single-handed craft.”

We are very grateful for the continued support the Local Committee have shown the sea cadets in Woking and we are looking forward to our re-location to Goldsworth Park; equipment such as this will enable us to offer first class training to the young people of the borough.
